Back in 1979 in Rockaway Beach, New York, A group of mad individuals known as aCid5 were making the rounds dealing in contraband and causing terror at large from Brooklyn to Manhattan in a loud '67 Mustang. Unknown to most this menacing collection of misfits would be at the forefront of electronic music as we know it today. At a time when radical ideas such as using tape machines and garbage cans generally placed musical byproducts in the "Punk" genre, aCid5 broke the mold and traversed racial differences and musical styles with their bizarre mix of twisted beats, tape loops, distorted organ and angry chants playing punk venues, illegal parties, crack houses, etc all over the New York area.
As one of the last surviving members of aCid5, ZouZouMamoux has returned to his roots. Armed with a microphone, his trademark Black Hat and Together with his trusty side kick Bin Darling, They recreate those times when Zou would yell "Get 'em the Fuck up" into the mic and hands and guns would go in the air.
Above all else, One Soul brings us back to the time when a good "Hip Hop" was about getting up off your ass and slamming to the groove. Sadly missing in today's music scene, One Soul wants to bring the party back to the live scene and exterminate the cockroaches of posers, elitists, snobs and bring the scum of the slum to the top! One Soul is a triumphant story with a positive energy and message to share!
We invite you to listen to and see the latest material from One Soul and get in touch with us so we may come to your town and Raise it up!
We had Andy Boller here recording his new CD recently...for those that don't know Andy, he is a world class pianist who come's from Michigan, U.S.A. He was managed by Blues scholar John Sinclair (MC5) for many years and after the desolving of his group "The Urbations", started to tour Europe as a solo artist as well as lending his talents to the likes of Sugar Blue, etc when they come over to tour...Great Stuff!
We have been pretty busy working on the new PAGANINI production entitled "Medicine Man" in the last months. We started in November with basic tracks and sporatically thru December, January and Febuary worked on overdubs and vocals. It was great to work together with producer and engineer Gerhard Magin (Crematory, Mystic Circle, etc). He has a good ear for the right takes with feeling and he makes a nice fluid open and big sound. We will be moving the production from "Gerassi Park" studios which is near Mannheim, to "Musikstudio-B" in Koeln on March 19, to begin the Mix together with Gerrasi, as well as producer "Goldielocks". Their will be many cooks in the kitchen and we are curious and excited to see what the results will be.
It has been pretty busy times at 3times3...The Paganini production has been released and is doing well. We have also been involved in a secret production that will be mastered tommorrow. In the coming days, I will be putting up some in depth posts about these things. In the meantime, have a great Halloween and watch out for the goblins....
Once again, we were down in the FT (Pratteln, Switzerland) filming material for the Resurrection. it was a marathon production, starting to build up the set at 2 in the afternoon. after many hours of work, we were prepared with a white room for filming. the band put in great efforts, filming till 6 am! Major shoutouts go to Walti (alias DJ OBL) for being among other things gaffer, best grip, special effects and lighting man...not to mention...comic relief :)
Kris Paganini not only provided top notch catering (the best...as usual) but as well demonstrated her excellent filming eye and captured lots of magic. Pierre Micheal was also on the camera and made some great stuff as well, most noteworthy, material for the "spending money" clip. Claudio Plozza came by later in the evening to help with the lighting and to cool out the police...big thanx to the ENTIRE Paganini family for a successful night of work....now, onto the cutting :)
well...after the last entry and further evaluation of the Resurrection...we decided it was not the vision we intended to achieve. therfore, I returned to Fribourg and did a complete remix of the album. It would actually fall under Re-Produced the album, as their was nothing wrong with the original mixes, it was more over the presentation of the material. The final result, a powerhouse, very wide and clean rock production. we then went once again to Glen Miller who did an outstanding job of mastering the "new" version. the Resurrection is NOW complete...
a MAJOR shout out go to Dom Torche of Relief studios (www.relief.ch), who, thru his undying desire to keep his customers happy, provided us with all the studio time we needed to achieve our goal...UNHEARD OF my man...YOU are the MAN!!!
Well, its been pretty busy times since the last entry to the blog. we have finished mixing the Resurrection. as well, we have been to Greenwood Studios in Switzerland to Master the recording. Glen Miller (no relation) did a great job of dialing in the sound and adding the finishing touches to the production. Meanwhile, it's on to the cover and parts for the enhanced section of the CD, including the making of footage....now, Management gets to go off and do their thing...the race is on...
After 6 more studio days in Fribourg, we have taken a 4 day break...We will return again on monday to continue Mixing... 4 songs are prepared for matering, and the rest are up on the plate, ready to be worked on. Everybodys happy with the progress of the production and we are all looking forward to get back to work after a much needed rest...Meanwhile, rest for the Zou means 2 concerts this weekend...I will post details after the shows, as usual....more from Studio Relief on monday...
The last 2 days we were down in Freibourg finishing up Guitar and Vocal Tracks on the Resurrection. We will be going back down on March 10 to start Mixing and finishing off the Production...
Meanwhile...We are Thrilled to announce that "Al Comet" (Composer/Keyboardist from The Young Gods) has joined in on the Production! Together with Marco and Myself, We will collaborate on the soundscaping and general Destrucion of the body of work we have built until now. it is My vision, to take a Traditional Rock Recording and Recycle it into a Barage of Sonic Experimentation which fuses elements of Traditional Rock, Electro and Sampling to New Heights....once again...stay tuned for more news about this Exciting work...
down in Relief Studio evertything is going great on the Resurrection. we captured Fantastic bass tracks from Bassist Michele Guaglio. after the untimely departure of the former bassist we were a little concerned to find someone who would be able to do justice to the tracks, but Michele walked in and tracked the whole record in in several hours to Absolute Perfection.
Marco Paganini tracked in some Amazing vocals on Wednsday. We are 3/4 Done with Lead Vocal recording and I have to say we have captured something Really Unique.
It was a great week down in Relief Studio in Freibourg. We Finished all the Drum tracks, and laid down most of the Guitars for the Paganini Production, the majority of which will stay. some need to be redone here and there and a general control as well, before starting Vocal Sessions. We will be returning to the studio on Feburary 20 to proceed further with "The Resurrection".
Mega Shoutouts go to, Dom Torche...for Creating such a fantastic Studio, not only Technically but Asthetically. Bertrand Siffert for being an inspiring and brilliant Engineer, and of course, Pierre for making it all possible...
Be watching for updates as the Production progresses.....
Paganini is down in Relief Studios in Freibourg, Suisse Romandie recording "the Resurrection" this month. we have finished all the drum tracks now, and Zou himself will start with the production in the coming days. It was a bang up start and after some minor repairs we were off and on our way...so watch for reports from Freibourg about the progress...
Some shots of the Laboratory...the Yamaha O2R digital mixing board...those speakers are the JBL Decade series from the 70's...real booty shaking bass! Don't look for too much outboard gear here. I work with Digital Performer on a Mac with a Motu 828, 16 simultaneous tracks in and out. The board has dynamics and effects on every channel. More then enough for recording in and mixing. For instrumentation I use Reason on a Mac Titanium laptop with a Digidesign audio interface. I am an avid Reason user since it's creation (and even before) and as a virtual rack next to the mixing board and audio enviorment, I have unlimited resources for composing and recording backing tracks.
3times3 is first and foremost a creation space, where aesthetics is key for inspiration and comfort. It has to FEEL good to SOUND and BE good....Here's some shots of the Chill area, where you can kick back and let those creative juices flow...
Willy (Production adviser and Oracle) oversees the vibe in the studio and always has a comment or suggestion for your creations... just ask him...
